I know it’s been a bit more hit and miss on the blog lately, but bare with me. There are some life changing things hitting our lives! Exciting, scary, and crazy all in one! I’ll share more on those things in the coming weeks and months so follow along.

For today I just wanted to share some images of a recent engagement album we had made for Erin and Joe. You may remember their engagement shoot in a cozy hideaway in Lake Arrowhead, Ca. After seeing the photos the couple decided to do one of my favorite things, get a guest sign in album made!

We did this at our wedding 5+ years ago and recommend it to every couple we meet with. It’s such a great way to use the photos from your engagement shoot, PLUS it gives all your guest a fun album to flip through and a chance to write a little yearbook-esc note.

i.e. “Have a KILLER summer. K.I.T.” -Uncle Bob

Kidding of course, but it really is a fun keep sake to look back on and enjoy.
As always, I design all the albums myself and have them put together but the stellar Madera Books! Beautifully constructed and jaw-dropper to look through, you’ll LOVE them!

If you are a bride, ask us about getting one and if you’re a photographer go to Madera’s site and get connected!

Hope you all enjoy some of the photos of the album.

So some of you may have ventured over to the products page and checked out the rolling slideshow of our new albums. But I’m sure some of you haven’t yet seen them because you’ve just been visiting the site to see our home page. : )

Either way, I wanted to write a little post to show some images of the amazing albums we are now using. Our friend and fellow photographer Michael Norwood has recently taken on a new venture by starting an album company called Madera Books! If you are a photographer you can officially end your search for the perfect album company! Trust me!

The things I like about these albums are the quality of the leather and the craftsmanship that goes into making them. When you hold them you can’t help but want to rub your hands across each page. They have such an amazing feel to them. One HUGE plus to these albums is the flush mounted seam. I’ve seen other flush mounted albums that either have a folded seam, which leaves a hump in the middle of the page and will crack over time, or they have a cut seam that leaves a thick gap between pages. These albums have a razor thin cut seam leaving a smooth and virtually unnoticed gutter between each page. LOVE IT! I take great care and detail into every spread I design and don’t take the way the final product turns out lightly. That being said we couldn’t be happier with the quality and customer service Madera has given us.

We’ve actually had these albums for a little while now but haven’t made the time to blog about them, until now. So here they are in all there glory! Feel free to contact us if you like what you see and want some more info about our design or how you can get one of your own! Hope you all are having a great week!

We were getting a little bored with our design so we dropped it! Over the past week or so we’ve been working pretty hard to give the site and blog some much needed updates and more accurate info. The most fun, time, stress, and energy went into the stop motion animation on our home screen. We had such a great time doing it, but are very glad it’s complete. ; ) I hope you all enjoy it as much as we do!

If you’re reading this you are obviously a bit familiar with some of the changes we’ve made, but I just wanted to do a little post to point out a few things.

First, and already mentioned, is the stop motion animation we did. If you only have our blog bookmarked and don’t generally check out our home page, now would be a good time! Just click HERE.

Something new we added at the end of each blog post are a few easy ways to share our blog with the rest of the world. If you have a Facebook or Twitter account you can easily click on the “share” or “like” button to post the blog to your wall or click the “tweet” icon to send a tweet with a link to the post. If you like what you see…share it! : )

A few of the menu items have changed as well. One of the new addition is a products link. Clicking on it will give you an option to view some of our albums or canvas prints. Our albums are designed in house and then manufactured by Madera Books. If you are a photographer and want the best albums…start using Madera!

And last, but certainly not least, on my mentions lists, is our “Who We Are” page. This part of the site has been neglected for sometime and I will admit it’s still a little lean on content. BUT, at least there are some new pictures and an easy way to see what we’re doing via Twitter! And YES! Jessica has a Twitter account now so if you haven’t already, start following her by clicking HERE!

Feel free to look around, share, like, tweet, and spread the word…there’s a lot more to see now at Jacobmariano.com!

As some of you know, I have my B.A. in Graphic Design. It has been a passion of mine for quite sometime and I enjoy the freelance work I get throughout the year.

A month back or so I started working on some design work for Massey Insurance Services. The company has been around for almost 30 years and has had the same corporate logo and identity for the same time period. The new owner wanted to take the look of the company into the 21st century. We had some good talks and after awhile I came up with look we are all proud of.

I know I haven’t posted a lot of design work on here, but I figured I would show you all the other side of Jacob Mariano Photograph+DESIGN.

Here’s a quick look at another project I did. It was a re-branding/packaging campaign for the Porto Rico Importing Co. This project involved a little more creativity beyond the design of the package. The challenge was to come up with a name, logo, theme, and design for the companies line of teas and coffee, and eventually develop it into a store location to rival Starbucks (only better and more refined). Here are a couple shots of the teas. Enjoy.
